13th gig at Downstairs at the King's Head

Just got back from the gig and it was a strange one. I gave my best performance ever. They were the hardest to please audience I've ever faced. All 14 acts found the audience tough to crack. Only two managed it. I wasn't one of those two, but the really good thing is that I conquered my nerves and for the first time I enjoyed myself up on stage.

12th gig at Up the Creek

Good audience, good venue, average reception to my material. Two surprising things, the intro didn't work so well, but the Arkive letter did. I'm confused.

11th gig at CATC

Managed to control my nerves (just) this time - thanks to putting in a lot of rehearsal time - and was pleased with the result. This was the second airing of the new opening and it seems to work well - my best opening yet. Plus I tried a brand new letter - Arkive. Although it didn't get as many laughs as I planned it has real potential. I'm actually excited about my next performance. I feel this whole set has the potential of taking me from 'alright' to 'good'.

Inspiration can come from anywhere

On Sunday evening while queueing up at the immigration desks in terminal 4 Heathrow airport I saw this sign. Going to write to the UK Border Agency to ask why the Irish get preferential treatment. Feckin' not fair.
